INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS OF PRACTICE
  I - X1V

Standard I
A Healing Touch Practitioner integrates Healing Touch within the scope of his/her background. This background is clearly represented to the client and public in an appropriate manner such as a flyer or brochure outlining ones' credentials including the successful completion of approved courses in Healing Touch, Levels I, 2, 3, 4 and 5 as taught by Healing Touch Certified Instructors through Healing Touch International, Inc.
The Certificate of completion from the Colorado Center for Healing Touch, Inc as a Healing Touch Practitioner is appropriately displayed on request.
Standard II
A Healing Touch Practitioner is a resource within his/her community to represent the practice of Healing Touch and it's relationship to other related individual practitioners, professions, institutions and organizations.
Standard III
A Healing Touch Practitioner operates from a theoretical knowledge base of Healing Touch and maintains a commitment to continual learning and growing as a healer well grounded in the art, and beginning scientific basis of energetic healing.
Standard IV
A Healing Touch Practitioner obtains health information and an energy assessment that serves as background for understanding the parameters of the current health/healing need(s) of the client.
Standard V
A Healing Touch Practitioner assesses the Energy System using various tools to determine the current health/healing need(s) in the energetic field and centers. This process is influenced by the Higher Sense Perception ability of the healer. Various intuitive gifts determine the data obtained. Data can include kinesthetic, tactile, visual, auditory, conceptual or knowing cues. Consequently the depth and range of data can vary from practitioner to practitioner. However, all Healing Touch Practitioners use their energetic assessment to guide the intervention.
Standard VI
Healing is an individual lived experience. Therefore, a Healing Touch Practitioner is a facilitator of the health/healing process, not the cause of the changes. Change is within the control of the individual at all times. The pacing, openness, intensity of Healing Touch is guided by the clients need at all times
Standard VII
Healing Touch does not promote a particular spiritual practice but respects the individual spiritual beliefs and practices of the client. The goal is to support the person on his/her own spiritual path using Healing Touch as a resource to complement that path.
Healing Touch operates from a broad universal concept of spirituality being open to accommodate individual specific differences of opinion about the nature of spirituality. Practitioners in Healing Touch come from a wide range of spiritual beliefs, and commit to operate under a universal spiritual basis respecting the spiritual integrity of the individual and not impose the practitioners belief on another.
Standard VIII
Throughout the Healing Touch session, the practitioner gives an explanation regarding what is going to be done, how and why, based on the energy assessment. The client is a fully knowledgeable participant in the health/healing process based on his/her ability.
Due to various presenting situations, such as the client being too sick to receive or take in an explanation, the practitioner may not give as much information as at other times. The individual need for an explanation, including depth and scope, is to be honored. Some want more explanation and some want less. However, all Healing Touch practitioners are grounded in being able to explain to the client what he/she is doing and why. As the scientific basis for Healing Touch and related healing knowledge is established, the practitioner is knowledgeable and able to share that information.
Standard IX
The treatment given in Healing Touch is based on the client's individual need and established from the assessment of the Energy System as outlined in the Healing Touch Notebooks, Levels I & II published by the North Carolina Center for Healing Touch, Inc
Standard X
After the treatment, the Energy System is reassessed to determine the effect of the treatment and need for further treatment of the Energy System and/or referral.
Standard XI
A confidential record is maintained on each client documenting the history, presenting need, assessment, findings, treatment, evaluation, follow up plan.
Standard XII
Referrals are made to other professionals as needed. Practitioners practice within the scope of their background, training, knowledge and experience.
Standard XIII
Healing Touch Practitioners are committed to quality care and leadership. This requires a commitment to operate from a Code of Ethics.
Standard XIV
Healing Touch Practitioners receive supervision and consultation for their practice as needed from qualified Healing Touch resources.
