PURPOSE

The following Standards of Practice were developed to guide the practice of Healing Touch (HT).

DEFINITION

Healing Touch is an energy based therapeutic approach to health and healing .It uses touch to influence the Energy System, specifically the Energy Field that surrounds the body, and the Energy Centers which control the energy flow from the Energy Field to the physical body, thus affecting all physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and healing.

GOAL

The goal in Healing Touch is to restore harmony and balance in the Energy System placing the client in a position to self heal.

COMPLEMENTARY

Healing Touch complements traditional health care and is used in collaboration with other approaches to health and healing.

INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS OF PRACTICE

The following Standards of Practice were developed through the Colorado Center for Healing Touch, Inc. the official provider of the Healing Touch Program and presented at the annual instructor/practitioner meeting in Denver, Colorado January 1996.

They were adopted by the Board of Directors of Healing Touch International in June 1996. They define and establish the scope of Healing Touch practice internationally to provide quality based Healing Touch that the public can be assured of the competency of the Certified Practitioner.

To become a Healing Touch Practitioner, (HTP), a person must meet the objectives in HT levels I, IIA, IIB, IIIA and IIIB as taught by Certified Healing Touch Instructors in an approved course.

To become a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner, (CHTP) a person must meet the following levels in Healing Touch, Level I, IIA, IIB, IIIA and IIIB as taught by Healing Touch Instructors and complete the criteria established and published by Healing Touch International, Inc.
